Needed : Special Hot Tub Plumbing

One of the major concerns that keeps most people from purchasing a home spa is the fear that they need special hot tub plumbing hooked up to their model, and are worried about the cost, the time it would take to run the plumbing through properly, and whether or not this is even possible with the current plumbing in their home.  However, for most makes and models of home spas, while you may have a few concerns, there really is no need for special hot tub plumbing.  Let's take a look at this issue here.

Larger Models

Obviously for the very large, expensive, and elaborate built-ins, there may be some special hot tub plumbing that's required.  Some hot tubs use a type of forced water or blower system, and this needs to be plumbed into the house.  Some require a ninety-degree turn of the water for filtration.  Suction filters or pressure filters are part of the hot tub plumbing that need to be configured. 

Pumps and heaters are also needed, as there needs to be a way to get the water into the tub and a way to heat it as well.  For those with jets, the ozonator (that part that makes the bubbles) is also part of the system and needs to be taken into consideration.  Your home spa needs a way to drain for when you need to empty it; chances are you don't care to use a bucket and scoop out all the water every few weeks! 

 In these cases, it's best to speak with an expert when it comes to hot tub plumbing, as you can see the many parts and variables that should be taken care of professionally.  Trying to guess or configure all these parts yourself can be disastrous.

Portable Models

One of the nice things about portable home spas is that they have no need for special hot tub plumbing.  You fill them with a garden hose and empty them out one side.  Their heating unit and everything else is already built in.  This makes them a great option for anyone who does not want to make their home spa that complicated, or who does not want to get involved with a project that means any type of hot tub plumbing!  If that sounds like you, investigate a portable unit; many are very affordable and easy to install.
